Benefits and Obligatory Practices of Ramadan
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is considered the most sacred month because of the endless blessings that Allah Almighty showers on Muslims. Muslims keep fast in Ramadan from dawn to dusk and keep themselves refrained from all the deeds that are forbidden in Islam. People are seen as more connected to Allah Almighty in this month and spend some more time worshipping Allah and performing the deeds that have multiple rewards. Muslims ask for forgiveness from Allah Almighty in this month and repent from all such deeds that they have executed in the past. Although all months of the Islamic calendar are significant in their own way Ramadan is termed the most respected month as it up brings spiritual connection to the Muslims and makes them more religious.
Essential Activities to Perform in Ramadan
According to the
teachings of Islam, Muslims must have to follow the timings in Ramadan with
perfect punctuality to perform Iftaar and Sahar on time. Iftaar is executed at
Fajr time and people are told to stop eating further after the Fajr prayer is
announced. This is the time when fast is initialized for the whole day. In the
evening when Maghrib prayer is announced, Muslims are obligated to open their
fast and start eating the food they need to consume. During this whole period,
while fasting Muslims are not allowed to eat or drink anything. They are also
not allowed to perform the activities that are forbidden in Islam. Even couples
are refrained to perform sexual activities while in the state of fasting.
In different
studies, it has been revealed that Holy Prophet (PBUH) used to open his fast
with dates and water. This is scientifically healthy as well because of the
nutritional significance of dates. People need to have some nutrients that are
totally present in dates including proteins, sugar, and energy after keeping
fast for the whole day.
